OCHL Decision to Suspend Hockey Operations for Remainder of 2020 year.
To our OCHL families, volunteers and officials, as you have heard, the Government of Ontario has announced
that Durham Region will move into the Red Zone as of Monday, November 23rd at
12:01 a.m. Because of these measures, we are only allowed 10 people in the facility at one time.
The health and safety of our membership is, and will always be, the priority of the OCHL.
As a result, we have made the difficult decision to suspend hockey operations for the remainder of the calendar year (2020) starting Monday, November 23rd.
Durham Region’s classification as a Red Zone will be for the next 28 days taking us to our traditional holiday break in the season.
Our hope is that we will be able to resume our hockey operations starting the weekend of January 9, 2021.
However, this will be dictated by any new announcements put forth by the Government of Ontario, Durham Region and the OHF.
All monies paid to date will be applied to the first block upon commencement of our season.
The OCHL has worked with both Campus Ice Centre and our hockey development team at Headstart Hockey to assign our Campus ice to them and run independent hockey development programs.
These programs will be solely and independently run and managed by Headstart Hockey including payments ([email protected]).
However, the OCHL will be given an opportunity to be first in line during a 48 hour window to register before they open it up to the general public as spaces are limited.
As new information becomes available, we will provide updates via our website (www.ochl.net) and our Facebook page.
We hope you and your families stay safe and healthy through the remainder of 2020 and we hope to see you all in January.
The OCHL Executive.
