In-Season Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a trainers Kit:

    • Suggested Contents Include: 

      1. First Aid Kit 

      2. Hard Copies of all players and Team Officials Medical Information Sheets

      3. EAPs

      4. Padlock for dressing rooms

      5. Sharpening Stone

      6. Small Repair Kit

      7. Tape

      8. Small clean towels

      9. Ziploc bags (great for keeping ice, teeth, etc)

      10. Hand sanitizer and extra gloves (non latex)

      11. Extra mouth guard and neck guard

  2. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Regularly inspect and maintain player equipment.

    • Ensure all equipment meets safety standards.

  3. Health Promotion:

    • Promote healthy habits and lifestyle choices.

    • Educate players on nutrition and hydration.

  4. Emergency Plans:

    • Develop and practice emergency action plans.

    • Assign roles and responsibilities in case of emergencies (call person, runner).

Pre-Game Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation: Ensure all first aid equipment is fully stocked and ready for use.

  2. Player Readiness: Assist players with warm-up exercises to prevent injuries

  3. Equipment Inspection: Ensure all players have properly fitted and functioning equipment.

During-Game Responsibilities:

  1. Monitoring: Keep a close watch on players for signs of injury or distress.

  2. Injury Management: Respond quickly to any injuries, providing first aid as needed.

  3. Emergency Action Plan (EAP): Follow the EAP in case of serious injuries or emergencies, coordinate with medical professionals and emergency services if necessary.

Post-Game Responsibilities:

  1. Injury Follow-Up: Check on players who were injured during the game to ensure they are recovering well.

  2. Record Keeping: Record all injuries in the injury log and report serious injuries to the league.

  3. Equipment Maintenance: Clean and disinfect all first aid equipment and supplies, restock any used or depleted supplies.

  4. Review and Feedback: Conduct a debrief with coaches and players to discuss any injuries or safety concerns.
