Program Overview
The Ontario Central Hockey League (OCHL) is delighted to offer the Bauer First Shift program, designed to provide new-to-hockey families with a positive and unforgettable experience. This initiative aims to introduce young players to the sport of hockey in a fun, safe, and supportive environment, showcasing the passion Canadians have for the game.

Early Registration: $160.00 (before July 31, 2024)
Regular Registration:
$210.00 (after July 31, 2024)

Program Details:

  • Age of Participants: The Bauer First Shift program is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 11.

  • Duration: The program runs for 12 sessions, with one ice time per week on Sundays.

  • Equipment Package: Each participant will receive a complete Bauer equipment package, including a stick, skates, jersey, and socks, ensuring they are fully equipped and ready to play.

  • Professional Photo Package: Participants will receive a professional picture package to capture their hockey journey.

  • Certified Coaches and Staff: The sessions will be led by certified OMHA coaches, trainers, and staff who are dedicated to providing personalized instruction and support.

Program Objectives:

  1. Introduce Hockey: Provide a welcoming and enjoyable introduction to the sport of hockey for young players and their families.

  2. Develop Basic Skills: Teach the fundamental skills of skating, puck handling, and basic game play in a structured and supportive environment.

  3. Promote Physical Activity: Encourage children to stay active and develop a love for physical fitness through hockey.

  4. Build Confidence: Help participants build confidence on and off the ice by achieving small milestones and mastering new skills.

  5. Foster Teamwork: Instill the values of teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship among young players.

  6. Ensure Safety and Comfort: Remove any intimidation related to equipment requirements or rules of the game, address potential safety concerns, and provide an experience that is both memorable and fun.
