U6 / U7 Development Programs

Program Overview

The Oshawa Community Hockey League (OCHL) offers the U6/U7 Development Programs, building on the foundation set in the U5 Division. This program introduces more structured gameplay and teamwork concepts while still prioritizing enjoyment and encouragement.

 

Program Details:

  • Age for Participation: Players born 2019 and 2020.

  • Ice Times: 2 ice times per week

  • Equipment: Participants receive a free jersey and socks.

  • Professional Photo Package: Includes a professional picture package to capture memorable moments.

  • End of Year Award: Every participant receives an end-of-year award to celebrate their progress.

  • Coaching Staff: Certified OMHA coaches, trainers, and staff provide personalized instruction and support.

Program Objectives:

  1. Enhance Skills: Further develop skating and stick-handling skills.

  2. Introduce Gameplay: Teach the basic rules of hockey and introduce structured gameplay.

  3. Promote Teamwork: Encourage teamwork and cooperation among young players.

  4. Ensure Enjoyment: Create a safe and fun atmosphere that inspires a lifelong interest in hockey.

  5. Build Confidence: Help participants build confidence through achieving small milestones and mastering new skills.

Additional Information:

  • Registration: Interested participants can register for the U6/U7 Development Program through the OCHL website. Spaces are limited, so early registration is encouraged.

  • Inclusivity: The program is open to all players within the age range, regardless of gender, skill level or previous experience.
